Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Testing (MSLT)TÜV SÜD PetroChem Inspection Services, Inc. offers Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Testing (MSLT) to compliment our full-service Tank Inspection Service Line. MSLT can provide additional assurance that tank bottom welds and/or plates are liquid-tight prior to returning the tank to service. Additionally, utilizing Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Testing prior to a hydro-test can help minimize hydro-testing a tank with compromised containment capabilities; thereby helping to reduce unforeseen expenses. Combining MSLT with a Post Repair Inspection can provide documentation of the repairs performed during the tank outage and help identify leaks inadvertently introduced during the repair process. Why utilize Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Testing instead of or in addition to Vacuum Box Testing? MSLT can provide a much higher level of sensitivity as well as increased inspection area coverage for restricted access areas such as: sumps, under internal piping, around supports welded directly to the bottom, easier inspection of three plate laps, and easier inspection of welds and plate on tank bottoms that have experienced edge settlement.
PetroChem Inspection Services is a high-quality, full-service provider of API and NDE inspection services. Our services include:
